Last year we were asked by Bristol's very own Bart Spices to grow chillies on their behalf. Naturally we leapt at the chance, and built a brand new 48ft x 24ft poly tunnel to cope.
As this was a new project, Bart's requested that we grew a variety of chillies in order for them to evaluate the potential of each type. Last year therefore we experimented with Indian PC1, Madre Verha, Hungarian Black, Goat Horn and Fatalli.
The results are now in, and we are pleased to say that for the 2012 season, we will be farming on behalf of Bart's, the super hot and hugely popular Fatalli as well as the beautifully coloured medium heat Hungarian Black.
The chilli farm, and Bart Spices tunnel will be open to visit from May onwards. Their amazing range of chilli based spices are also available from the farm shop, including old favourites such as Cayenne and Hot Sweet Paprika, as well as the not so common but amazingly delicious Ras-El-Hanout, and Berbere. The farm shop, cafe and butchery are open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the year.
