Date added: 24/01/2012 Germination started for 2012

We are excited to say that germination has started on the farm in preparation for the 2012 growing season!

Using a number of Vitopod heated propagators from Greenhouse Sensations, our germination schedule starts with the hotter chillies from the Chinense strain, and includes Orange Habanero, Fatalli, 7 Pot and Dorset Naga.

We expect the shoots to start showing within the next 10 days, and within 3 weeks, we will begin germinating a second wave of chillies, this time from the Annum family, including Jalapeno, Hungarian Hot Wax and Super Chillies. The Annum variety of chillies are generally milder and take less time to mature.

On top of the chillies that we grow commercially for pod harvesting, we will also germinate a number of chilli plants for sale, including ornamentals such as the beautiful Twillight and Bolivian Rainbow. Our Show tunnel will once again have a host of different chillies, with over 100 different types available for inspection.

As in previous years, the show tunnel and growing tunnels will open to visit from May onwards. The farm shop is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, where our range of chilli sauces, chocolates and growing kits are available. Our cafe is also open on these days, as is the lovely organic butchery.
